How Performance Colors are Determined

Last Updated: Oct 20, 2017 10:11AM CDT

Colors are used throughout the survey results site to display summary information about performance on questions or items, Measures, and Essentials. Most partners use the "standard" colors which are shades of red, yellow and green, while partners from the state of Illinois see their results in shades of purple. See below for more information.

Colors on the 5Essentials puzzle icon are determined by Essential scores, and colors on the Measures are determined by Measure scores. These colors are determined as follows: scores of 0-19=dark red; 20-39=light red; 40-59=yellow; 60-79=light green; 80-100=dark green. In the state of Illinois, these colors are based on the same numeric scale, using shades of purple.

Colors for the overall 5Essentials performance are determined by the net performance of a school across Essentials. Schools strong on the 3-5 Essentials are dark green or deep purple (Illinois). Schools needing support on 3-5 Essentials are dark red or lavender (Illinois).
